Connections

The construction of identity … involves the construction
of opposites and ‘others’ whose actuality
is always subject to the continuous interpretation
and re-interpretation of their differences from ‘us’.’

Artist Statement : Attracta Manson Degree Show 2009 Connections

The basis of my practical studio work for the last year was an investigation into the idea of ‘core identity’; through paintings and photography.
leading to a deeper interest and research into that which connects us, including time, politics, economy, physics, patterns and chaos.
Er'go simple images contain complex narratives and contend with the monotonous, by means of their own private histories. Abandoned items at a Flea market, which have yet to be acquired by people, who themselves may not be clear of their own subsistence.
The starting point for my practical studio work for the Degree show comes from two areas: Photographs / Black and White/ taken while on the ‘Bloom’ project in Brussels (August 2008) and..A studio set of photographs taken with a model for form. (November 2008)
